The full Kansas City MSA (Missouri and Kansas) conducts "Spring Breakout Phase II" TTX Exercise - March 11, 2016. The Kansas City MSA is one of the first in the nation to plan for sustained medical countermeasure operations. Thank you to Mid-America Regional Council and the Kansas-KC Cities Readiness Initiative for exercise support.
Linn County, Kansas conducts a full scale exercise of an open point of dispensing (POD) location, December 16, 2015. Regional support was provided by Johnson and Wyandotte Counties.
Pick-List Contest winners Kat Robnett and Alysia Dennis at the 2015 NACCHO Public Health Preparedness Conference in Atlanta, GA, April, 2015. The contest was open to all conference attendees and consisted of picking a list of strategic National Stockpile materiel, stacking the products on a pallet, and then wrapping the pallet for shipment. Kat and Alysia are both from the Kansas City Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Congratulations Alysia and Kat. Way to Go!

On May 16, 2014, Kansas City Region Cities Readiness Initiative members celebrated achieving scores of 100% for all six counties in an annual audit of medical countermeasure preparedness plans by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. To our knowledge, this has never been accomplished by any other CRI region.

On November 8, 2013 the Wyandotte County Public Health Department conducted an anthrax dispensing exercise in Wyandotte County, Kansas. County employees are trained to assist in public health emergencies. Practice makes perfect!
